چکیده

Diffusionand perfusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging (DWI, PWI) allows the arly diagnosis of ischemic brain injury. Regions with pathologic apparent diffusion coefficients (ADC) mismatching w ith pathologic mean transit imes (MTT) or relative cerebral blood volum e (rCBV) are thought o correlate with tissues that can be saved by appropria te treatment. Ten patients with cerebral ischemia were xamined. Combining different information (T2w, DWI, ADC, rCBV, MTT) into multidimensional histograms allowed the segmentation of ischemic and unaffected tissues and overcame problems with strongly fluctuating parameters. Correlating A DC, T2w, and rCBV with clinical symptoms allowed the estimation of age and perfusion state of lesions.

Histogram-based characterization of healthy and ischemic brain tissues using multiparametric MR imaging including apparent diffusion coefficient maps and relaxometry.

Decreased, renormalized, or increased values of the calculated apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) are observed in stroke models. A quantitative description of corresponding tissue states using ADC values may be extended to include true relaxation times. A histogram-based segmentation is well suited for characterizing tissues according to specific parameter combinations irrespective of the het...

Spatiotemporal Dynamic Simulation of Acute Perfusion/Diffusion Ischemic Stroke Lesions Evolution: A Pilot Study Derived from Longitudinal MR Patient Data

The spatiotemporal evolution of stroke lesions, from acute injury to final tissue damage, is complex. Diffusion-weighted (DWI) and perfusion-weighted (PWI) imaging is commonly used to detect early ischemic changes and attempts to distinguish between permanently damaged and salvageable tissues. To date, 2D and 3D measures of diffusion/perfusion regions at individual timepoints have been widely u...

Signal Intensity of High B-value Diffusion-weighted Imaging for the Detection of Prostate Cancer

Background: Diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) is a main component of multiparametric MRI for prostate cancer detection. Recently, high b value DWI has gained more attention because of its capability for tumor characterization. Objective: To assess based on histopathological findings of transrectal ultrasound (TRUS)-guided prostate biopsy as a reference, an...

Precise Characterization of the Penumbra Revealed by MRI: A Modified Photothrombotic Stroke Model Study

AIMS To precisely characterize the penumbra by MRI based on a modified photothrombotic stroke mouse model. METHODS The proximal middle cerebral artery was occluded by a convenient laser system in conjunction with an intravenous injection of Rose Bengal in mice. And the suture MCAO model was performed in seven mice as a comparison of the reproducibility. One hour after occlusion, the penumbra ...
